Bicycle Repair Party!
Who: Anyone is welcome, with or without a bike. Just be sure to come hungry!
What: Free Mexican Food and Free Bike Repair. People will be fixing their own rides and learning from one another about basic repairs like changing flats, adjusting brakes and derailleurs, swapping chains, mounting racks and baskets, etc. Or just showing up to chat with friends.
When: Friday, Sept 11, 6-9:30 pm. Rain or shine.
Where: 1195 Chapel St (between Park St and Howe St) ---> Front Patio
Why: Is your bike working flawlessly? Really? O.K., you insist there's not a loose bolt, crooked brake pad, or squeaky chain in the entirety of its well-oiled mechanism. Then use the party to URBANIZE your bike. This means (1.) replacing your quick release skewers with locking skewers so your wheels and seat don't get purloined, and (2.) adding front and rear lights to your ride. Ask the organizers about where to get these parts, or email us in advance and we'll pick them up for you.
How: We'll have all the necessary tools for basic repairs. Serious repairs are best left for the bike shop. If your bike needs a new part, bring it with you to the party, or R.S.V.P. on Facebook ahead of time so the organizers will know what parts to buy for you. You can reimburse us at the party.
Feel free to bring drinks or desserts. Not to mention friends!
If you have a Facebook account, you can R.S.V.P. here.
